This year’s annual survey for Black Oystercatchers will focus just on identifying and monitoring nest sites—the abundance survey will not be done this year.  If you would be interested in learning more about Black Oystercatchers and this citizen science project, and would like to consider becoming a volunteer, you can explore the topic at a training session on Wednesday, May 20, 6:30 p.m. at the Oregon State University Field Station in Port Orford (444 Jackson St.).  The event, organized by Portland Audubon together with the Forest Service and other agencies and conservation groups, is free and open to all.
