driftline was full of small plastic material. There were 3 sections on dune where SOLV or someone had gathered garbage for later pick up but the pickup has not happened

Lots of plastic plus a large quantity of Velella in driftline. We had strong west winds two days ago

Erosion of vegetated foredune·Visible retreat of solid bluff·Evidence of wave overtopping
strong waves over the last month have caused dune grass to erode. The sand seems lower than it has been and the dunes higher.
Comments:
Summary:

Two days ago we had very strong west winds for an extended period. The Velella were back in the driftline. A lot of water bottle caps and small platic garbage as well. The sand and dunes have been eroding from wind over the winter.

Pretty uneventfull observations today. The dead whale from last report is still composting on the shore. Beach seemed pretty clean of garbage. Only 4 dead birds. Many crab shells. Very few jellyfish...

Very clean beach, despite the holiday weekend.Some squid egg cases present. One dead sea lion.

Not much to report.  Debris from winter storms was evident and a lot of crab shells.
