June 19, 2020 - Foxglove290

This was my 1st time back on my mile since February.  Lack of trash was surprising to me(see the photo of what I picked up)  Driftwood on the shore was minimal.  We have had a lot of windy days with abundant sand movement which may have buried trash and driftwood. more

There is a lot of debris washed a shore after this weeks storm.  I picked up trash Saturday and today monday.  Some from the fisheries(big tangles of rope-see photos)  a lot that washed down the rivers and out the bay.

I would love for someone to verify that I have ID'd more

End of summer,  Not much in the way of driftwood left on the beach(campers burn it thru the summer).  The beach was carn clean being it was just a week ago the SOLVE did the fall beach clean-up. 5 dead birds is a concern, I am cusrious as to why?  read more

My husband and I spent 3 hours (6 man hours)  picking up trash.  We ran into one other couple who were doing the same.   I added their trash lbs to our total count  of 80lbs.  It is reallly frustrating that people don't clean up after themselves.  We did find 2 more

Dead cow elk.  It appeared to have broken a hind leg.  A mystery as to how it ended up on the beach. It did not appear to have been in the water very long.    It was a beautiful cold winter day.  The beach has alot less driftwood accumulated more

Beautiful Indian summer day to walk my mile.  I observed 15 people along with their dogs on the beach and northe jetty. One man was surf fishing. Usually there are people fishing off the jetty but not todya due to the rate the tide was comming in(1.4' per hour) The tide was more

It was one of those rare sunny and almost calm winter days.  Erosion has been less severe than last year.  Overtopping brought more drftwood and sand inland than I have observed in the last 5 years.

There is a lot of erosion that occured over the winter.  It seemed like a lot less driftwood on the beach until I walked the tree line.  There is alot of driftwood 10-20' back into the trees, sand too.  The high surfs and storm surge had an impact along this mile more

Visiting Camp Magruder and took advantage of free time to walk mile south to Bar View Jetty. Beach was filled with driftwood. Removed two bags of glass beer bottles and plastic water more
